Your First Visit

It's never easy to walk into a place you've never been to, and unfortunately, churches are not immune to this.
We work hard at 1st UMC to help you feel right at home. So, in order to help you feel a little more comfortable before you ever even step foot in the door, we'd like to answer some basic questions that you might be thinking about.

Where's the church?

What do I wear?

When do I arrive?

What about my children?

What can I expect when walking through the front doors?

More unanswered questions?

Where's the church?
We are located in the heart of Princeton, TX at 416 N. 4th Street.  From Hwy 380, turn north on 4th Street  and we'll be on your left.

What do I wear?
Our attire tends to be quite casual.  The Pastor wears dress pants and a tie, but most of the congregation will wear jeans or other comfortable clothes.

When do I arrive?
We have a 10:00 AM Sunday School hour each week.  We suggest coming a few minutes early to get acquainted with the various rooms and classes.
Our Worship service begins at 11:00 AM.  Again, we would suggest coming a few minutes early in order to find a seat and to have a moment to visit with the warm-hearted people of 1st UMC!

What about my children?
As the future of our community AND our church, children are welcome and a wonderful part of the morning service.  Each week, Pastor Jason likes to spend some time in the service talking just to the kids in the congregation.  Just before the morning message, Pastor Jason calls the children to the front to sit on the steps and listen to a silly story or a reminder about how much they are loved and how special they are.

For kids (Kindergarten - 5th grade) we have an exciting mid-week ministry called M&M's (Mini-Methodists) during the school year.  Each Wednesday starting at 6:30 PM, the kids get together to play games, watch a DVD clip, enjoy some crafts and learn a wonderful lesson.  Please contact Alisha, our Director of Children's Ministries, if you have any questions.

Nursery is available upon request for children 0-36 months.  Contact JeanAnn McConnell at 469-223-7327 for assistance.

What can I expect when walking through the front doors?
As you approach the building from the parking lot, you will notice our white double, front doors.  Simply pull open the door and walk right into the front narthex.  You will notice the warm, wood floors, some of our historical stained-glass windows, a soft painting of Christ and the smiling faces of our greeters.

Walk through the next doorway and you will find yourself at the rear of the sanctuary.  This is a large open area with wood floors in which the church will occasionally host meals or events.  From this area, though, you can look down the full stretch of the sanctuary to see the contoured pews, the choir loft, and altar rails.  You will be warmed by the beautiful, historical stained glass windows that fill the room with radiant light.

For Sunday School, the rooms are located to the left as you come in.  Some are down the hallway on the left (west) wall.

RESTROOMS and NURSERY are located down the hall on the left (west) wall.

The Pastor's Study is the first room on the right as you walk into the sanctuary.
